WELLINGTON H2A:

heritage & arts alive

We've always operated on a shoe string, and make a little go a long way. Annually we receive a £1000 grant from Wellington Town Council, and £500 from Wellington Market Company. We also benefit from smaller donations from local shops and small businesses (usually around £30).

This funding is vital in enabling us to organise our music and heritage events, and we augment it with our own income-generating activities. These include:

  • income from stallholders attending our Midsummer Fayre in June

  • the sale of advertising space to local small businesses in our Summer Revels Guide

  • the sale of Wellington postcards, jute shopping bags and calendars.

In 2008 we were able to extend our activities and reach more people thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, which supported our historically-inspired Midsummer Fayre in June. In 2010 a grant from the local authority's Borough Towns Initiative enabled us to buy some new costumes and equipment.

We are always looking for further sources of funding to help us maintain the work we currently do and develop more exciting projects in future. This involves merchanise we've designed ourselves - clikc on the 'H2A merchandise' tab in the menu to find out more.

We are also very grateful to a handful of generous individuals who make personal donations, sometimes just £5 or £10, and sometimes much more. If you would like to make a donation, please send it to Wellington H2A c/o Ken Francis Butchers, 9 Market St, Wellington (all cheques should be made payable to 'Sounds in The Square').
