There are a variety of arts, cultural and community events taking place in and around Wellington throughout the year.

We feature events in Wellington and the surrounding areas of Hadley & Leegomery, Wrockwardine & Admaston, Little Wenlock, Lawley, Waters Upton & Crudgington, the Wealdmoors, Longden-on-Tern and High Ercall.

Events will be added as to these listings as we are informed of them, so keep checking the site, and if you're organising any yourself, let us know!

Wrekin Museum Partnership AGM

Livlier than your usual AGM, this meeting of the museum partnership will see the launch of the WMP's logo, website and business plan, and will finish with fiddle playing by local folk musician 'Floss'. Anyone interested in seeing a new museum established in Wellington is welcome to come along.

Hanna teaches songs from around the world with the emphasis on FUN! You don't need to be able to read music or even be an experienced singer.... just come along and enjoy!

SATURDAY 19th JUNE

Wellington Midsummer Fayre

Reviving the town's ancient June festivities with Morris dancing in Market Square, folk music and brass bands in the church yard, tea and cakes in the church, local food and craft stalls and a host of other entertainments and distractions. The highlight will be the Georgian 'Jubilee Procession' of costumed characters, first recorded in Wellington in 1773. Details available nearer the time.

SUNDAY 20th JUNE

The Great Wrekin Barrel Race

See teams battle it out to be the fastest up Shropshire's most iconic landmark with a full firkin of ale! This quintessentially local sporting challenge marks the boisterous Wrekin Wakes that took place at this time of year two centuries ago, and during which barrels of ale would have been hauled up the hill to oil the festivities.

The Wrekin, Wellington (Rifle Range to the summit)

11am - 1pm, free entry.

SUNDAY 4th JULY

Right Around The Wrekin: Second Annual Walk

Organised by the Rotary Club of Wellington. Walkers can raise money for their own clubs, schools, organisations through sponsorship forms issued by the Rotary Club.The walk goes round the foot of the Wrekin not to the top, covering about 8km (route TBC)
