Sounds in The Square
'Sounds in The Square' brings live music in the town's Market Square on seven Saturdays throughout July and August. Supported by businesses and the town council, it has proved hugely popular since members of what is now H2A launched it in 2006. Below is the programme for the 2010 Sounds season, which ended on August Bank Holiday weekend.
SATURDAY 3rd JULY
Pamlico Sound
Week One of ‘Sounds in The Square’, organised by Wellington H2A and funded by local businesses & the Town Council. Here on the eve of American Independence Day, the season starts with Bristol-based Pamlico Sound, whose American-inspired repertoire ranges from original songs to classic bluegrass and folk tunes.

SATURDAY 10th JULY
Driftwood
Folk and acoustic music 'with a tinge of soul' from one of the area’s favourite bands.

SATURDAY 17th JULY
The Telfordaires & Wellington Brass Band
Our prize-winning brass band and the region’s premier barbershop chorus share the stage for a morning of big sounds and close harmonies. The choir opens, the band begins at 12.

SATURDAY 31st JULY
Sounds in The Square: Sometime Wonder
Vocals-driven acoustic music from the popular Shropshire trio featuring multi-instrumentalists Sam Newth, Ben Edwards & Richard Pharo. Influences include Show of Hands, Counting Crows & Paul Simon.

Sounds in The Square: Three in a Bar
From New Orleans jazz to the Swing Era and beyond, this easy-on-the-ear combo offers something for everyone.

Sounds in The Square: One Short
English traditional songs and tunes from a foot-tapping trio of fiddle, melodeon and percussion.
