'Sounds in The Square' brings live music in the town's Market Square on seven Saturdays throughout July and August. Supported by businesses and the town council, it has proved hugely popular since members of what is now H2A launched it in 2006. Below is the programme for the 2011 Sounds Season, starting on 9th July:
SATURDAY 9th JULY
Di and The Guy
Sounds in The Square is organised by volunteers from Wellington H2A. In the first of this year’s performances, come and hear local singer Diane Drummond and Jon ‘the guy’ on acoustic guitar. Diane has a blues sound in her groove, rock in her rhythm, a blend of gospel, jazz elegance in her delivery and a charisma that can ignite any audience.

SATURDAY 16th JULY
Sometime Wonder
Vocals-driven acoustic music from a popular Shropshire trio of multi-instrumentalists. Influences include Paul Simon, Show of Hands & Counting Crows.

Sounds in The Square: Sam & Paul
Armed with his left-handed vintage Fender, hear top blues guitarist Paul Wallis work his way from Hendrix to Dire Straits, with Sam Newth on acoustic guitar.

SATURDAY 30th JULY
Bridgnorth Ukulele Band & Wellington Brass Band
Wellington’s award-winning brass-banders share the stage with a plucky pack of strummers from downstream at Bridgnorth for a fantastic morning of lively ensemble music.

SATURDAY 13th AUGUST
Sounds in The Square: Three in a Bar
From New Orleans jazz to the Swing Era and beyond, this easy-on-the-ear combo offers something for everyone.

Sounds in The Square: The Inn Comes Out!
Performers from the Wrekin Inn’s weekly Open Mic Night take to the stage for the last instalment of the Sounds season.
